Yew Sprig
Common name: Yew Sprig
Botanical name: Taxus baccata
Grade:
Cultivation: Wild Harvested by Elfhame
Origin: Australia
Size: 1 sprig roughly 10cm in length
Yew has a long association with death, necromancy, baneful workings and eternal life in witchcraft. Every witch I know always keeps a watchful eye when entering a graveyard, looking for a Yew tree. Yew is sometimes planted in a graveyard to keep the dead from wandering, this is because Yew is believed to stand between this world and the spirit world.
Burning Yew is a traditional method for raising the dead, but extreme caution is needed as Yew is extremely poisonous.
